This Buy Local Campaign promotes local businesses and challenges residents and visitors to support their friends and neighbors by investing in our community. Key Messaging
- Locally owned businesses create unique, vibrant, close-knit communities. One-of-a-kind shops and businesses make the Rhinelander community different from anywhere else! By supporting small, you help ensure the future of these businesses within our community for generations to come. When you know the faces behind a business, you also build a special connection to the people and products they provide, and often times experience more personalized customer service.
- Small businesses also keep money in the community. For every $100 spent at a local business, $68 stays within Rhinelander, compared to $43 of every $100 remaining in the community from a chain store. The benefits don’t stop there, either. Small businesses reinvest 23 cents of every dollar into other local businesses.
- 98% of consumers referenced online information when researching local businesses in 2022. Additionally, 65% of consumers left reviews when requested to by a business in 2022, and 46% of consumers consider online reviews to be just as trustworthy as word-of-mouth recommendations from friends and family. Needless to say, taking a few minutes to leave a positive review for a local business can have a great impact!
- When you shop locally instead of traveling to do your shopping, you reduce your carbon footprint AND save on gas. Products that are created within the Rhinelander community also produce less emissions as a result of reduced transportation and shipping needs, compared to products that are brought in via plane, train, or truck. Did you know that planes are responsible for 12% of carbon dioxide emissions from all transport sources?
