The Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce (which serves as the Rhinelander Information Center) is excited to announce that they have been selected to receive a $1,000 Tourism Information Center (TIC) grant from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism.

The Tourist Information Center (TIC) Grant Program supports tourism partners that provide services for meeting, greeting and directing travelers on the road.  In the summertime the Rhinelander Chamber averages 475 people per week that WALK through their door.  That does not include those that simply come for a photo with the now famous Hodag.  Phone calls average around the 150 mark per week, and sends out about 75 pieces of mail per month containing requested information.

The grant dollars help defray the center’s costs for customer service staffing and fund improvements to signage, audio visual equipment, and display equipment such as racks or shelving.  “We are proud to not only provide information, but to be able to showcase our area and our members in the friendly Northwoods way”, said Maggie Steffen, Executive Director.   “The money is much appreciated as well as the recognition”.
