Rhinelander, WI (March 16, 2020) – We are in unprecedented times. We are confronting a new enemy that threatens our health and our peace of mind. We could despair, panic, or we can respond. The well-being of members, staff, volunteers, and our community is our priority, we are adjusting, as advised by public officials and responding to a growing need.

“Because of the evolving rules governing the coronavirus pandemic, the impact of school closures, and the growing demand on families and medical professionals, we are transitioning our YMCA to support families, doctors, nurses, technicians, and medical staff by caring for their children during this crisis,” said Ryan Zietlow, CEO. “We want to make sure families and medical professionals in our community don’t have to worry that their children are in a safe place, as they care and provide for a growing number of our loved ones during this difficult time.”

Effective, Tuesday, March 17th your YMCA of the Northwoods will temporarily suspend all operations outside of licensed child care. Our Y teams will transition their focus on offering schooldays-out childcare and early learning care for our families and critical service workers. Schools Out Day and The Children’s Learning Center will remain open and operational at this time.

 Full Day Care (Children’s Learning Center) is still running as scheduled

 Schools Out day for school age children will run during this time

o Pre-registration is required
o Limited Space

Registration for the week of March 23rd and 30th will begin at noon on Tuesday, March 18th

Our YMCA group exercise classes, sports, senior activities, adventure alley, leagues, wellness spaces, youth programs, and swim lessons are temporarily suspended. “The Y is so much more than fitness centers and gyms, pools and locker rooms; we are a community! Dedicated to strengthening (and protecting) the spirits, minds, and bodies of our friends and communities,” said CEO, Ryan Zietlow
