Ascension Koller Behavioral Health offers monthly Mindfulness and Meditation programs in Rhinelander that are free to anyone in the community.
The March Mindfulness Program will be viewing the George Monbiot documentary "Compassion is the Answer," and will be offered on Tuesday, March 24, from 1-2:30 p.m., at Ascension Koller Behavioral Health, 1020 Kabel Avenue in the 2nd floor conference room. Advanced registration is not required.
“A British zoologist, anthropologist, and environmental activist, Monbiot suggests that the stories we tell define us and separate us from one another,” said Kathy Mitchell, MA, of Ascension Koller Behavioral Health. “Through neurological studies and examples of societies throughout the world he opens the question of what does it take to build more tolerance and compassion in our own minds, our communities, and the world.”
The documentary runs approximately 45 minutes. Discussion will follow.
Ascension Koller Behavioral Health also offers the Riverside Meditation Group. In March, the Riverside Meditation Group will be held on Thursday, March 12, from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. Riverside Meditation Group is an opportunity for anyone with a meditation practice to have regular
group support. There are two twenty-minute seated meditations with either walking meditation or Qigong in between. The meditation model is silent and still with occasional guided meditations. At the end a short talk focusing on enhancing skills of mindfulness and meditation. The Riverside Meditation
Group draws from western psychological mindfulness teachings, philosophy, literature, and poetry.
